SDP Announces Next Round of Facilities Master Plan Community Engagement

The School Reform Commission, and the School District of Philadelphia announced last week that the next phase of community engagement sessions around the Facilities Master Plan will begin on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

Spearheaded by members of the School Reform Commission, this upcoming series of community forums aims to engage parents, students, employees, community members, city officials and all other District stakeholders in dialogue around the priorities and policies that should drive the next phase of the Facilities Master Plan Process.

In an effort to gather rich and meaningful feedback during the community forums, the District plans to incorporate audience polling, facilitated small group discussion, and a participant report-out activity on the agenda.

The upcoming engagement effort will consist of a series of seven roundtable discussions in September and October, reserving one session specifically for student participation.

To accommodate public availability, there will be three meetings during the day and four sessions in the late afternoon/early evening. The SRC has committed to have at least one commissioner attend each meeting. A complete schedule of the meetings can be downloaded at http://mailimages.philasd.org/pub/fmpflyer.png

The first meeting on September 25, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. will air live on PSTV Comcast channel 52, Verizon Fios channel 20, and online at http://www.philasd.org/stream.

This next round of engagement is a continuation of the Facilities Master Plan process, which began in July of 2010.  For more information on the Facilities Master Plan process visit http://www.philasd.org/fmp.
