January Symposium focuses on school climate
Everyone – students, teachers, administrators, families – plays a role in establishing the climate in a school. In an effort to generate conversation about this important topic, Need in Deed is partnering with Philadelphia Public School Notebook (PPSN) to host a symposium at the Comcast Tower on Thursday, January 14th at which the keynote speaker will be Dr. Pedro Noguera, noted sociologist, author and Professor at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.
Panelists include SRC member Johnny Irizarry, PCCY’s Education Director Sheila Simmons, high school student Khalif Dobson, and Celeste Rodriguez, a teacher at Stetson Middle School and member of NID’s Teacher Network. Dave Davies, of the Philadelphia Daily News and WHYY, will serve as moderator.
