Lift Every Voice Philly (LEV) is searching for leaders who believe in people. Our organizers recruit, train, and coach LEV parent members as they launch winning issue campaigns to improve Philly schools.

Lift Every Voice Philly is a Black-led, multi-racial organization that is building the power of parents. Our goal is to transform Philly schools by advancing racial, economic, and education justice. Our values shape our work. Candidates must be aligned with our core values of:

  • dignity,
  • justice,
  • parents as experts,
  • Black leadership,
  • collective action, and
  • public education as a public good.

We are currently organizing parents at five school-based chapters and building our first citywide chapter.

Chapter Organizer Responsibilities:

Meet parents where they are 

  • Recruit parents outside of Philly public schools at arrival and dismissal
  • Host community dinners and other community-building events
  • Develop relationships through in-person and phone conversations and community meetings and events

Support parent leadership

  • Plan and hold member meetings and trainings
  • Help parents reach consensus on community priorities
  • Support parents’ leadership goals
  • Help parents to reflect on what they are learning about building unity and power

Launch campaigns

  • Build and carry out plans to help parents take effective action on issues they care most about
  • Help parents prepare for meetings with school district and city leaders
  • Keep your eye on the overall vision of developing grassroots parent leaders to transform the Philly School District
