Join us in making a change in Philadelphia!
EducationWorks is a nonprofit organization that enriches the lives of children, youth and families by providing educational programs and services in communities confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement. We provide safe, educationally rich environments for students, particularly during after-school hours. From September to June we operate after-school programs for children and youth throughout the city. We are now accepting applications for Group Supervisors and Assistant Group Supervisors.
Group Supervisor:
· Key Responsibilities include:
o Plan and implement project-based learning curriculum;
o Prep materials for afterschool program activities;
o Coordinate activities of program staff and support students in and outside of the classrooms.
· Qualifications:
o Minimum Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, family studies, elementary education or the human services field AND three years’ experience working with children in an educational setting;
o Experience may be substituted with a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, family studies, elementary education or the human services field;
o Experience working with children in an urban, educational setting;
o Program coordination skills including: flexibility, professionalism, creativity, responsibility, ability to multi-task and work effectively as part of a team;
o PA state criminal clearance, child abuse clearance, and FBI clearance.
Assistant Group Supervisor:
· Key Responsibilities include:
o Work closely with students in a group setting to implement project-based learning;
o Ensure students’ safety; create a ‘safe space’ in which learning and development can take place;
o Stick closely to EducationWorks’ protocols and procedures to ensure students have a safe, engaging, and enriching experience!
· Qualifications:
o Minimum Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, family studies, elementary education or the human services field OR a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with children in an educational setting;
o Experience working with children in an urban, educational setting;
o PA state criminal clearance, child abuse clearance, and FBI clearance.
These are part-time positions (approximately 12-15 hours per week) to begin on or after August 20th.
