The Idealist On Campus (IOC) program formed as the result of a merger between Action Without Borders/Idealist.org and the Campus Outreach Opportunity League (C.O.O.L) in 2004. Idealist On Campus’s mission is to connect, educate and mobilize students, campuses, and communities to build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives. To that end, they offer a range of programs and resources as well as a supplemental website http://www.idealistoncampus.org/.
These include:
*The C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference – the nation’s largest annual gathering of students, faculty and administrators involved with service, activism and socially responsible work. The 2006 conference will be in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University from March 3-5. For more information, visit http://www.idealist.org/conferences/cool/2006/
*The IOC listserv – a place for campus community members to share news, resources, and ideas about service, activism and socially responsible work. As a member of the listserv, you will also receive the Idealist On Campus Dispatch, an e-newsletter that highlights news and upcoming events at Idealist On Campus as well as programs and resources on campuses nationwide. To subscribe, visit http://lists.idealist.org/lists/add_request/idealistoncampus
*IOC’s Civic Engagement Curriculum – a series of free downloadable workshops that groups can use to facilitate workshops and discussions on a range of topics, including everything from basic facilitation to coalition-building: http://www.idealist.org/ioc/learn/curriculum/index.html
*IOC’s STUDENT CAREER CENTER – resources and online networking opportunities for students with an interest in nonprofit and socially responsible careers: http://www.idealist.org/ioc/learn/scc/index.html
