Resources for Uplifting Student Voices
Posted by Pulitzer Center on April 4, 2023
Since 2017, the Pulitzer Center has collaborated with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) to produce the “Everyday DC” photo exhibition, a visual narrative of Washington, D.C., through the eyes of over 100 local middle school students. Inspired by the Center-supported Everyday Africa project, “Everyday DC” challenges students to analyze how their community is portrayed in the media, and how they can compose images that more accurately visualize their experiences.
Join us in celebrating these student photographers and curators! Those local to D.C. are invited to visit the gallery through June 3. Teachers and students outside of D.C. can explore this virtual gallery of student photography, or apply their photography skills to produce exhibitions in their own communities with the “Everyday DC” lesson plans.
