West Chester University is hiring two full-time AmeriCorps VISTA members!
2016-17 PACC*VISTA Resource Pantry Coordinator:
The WCU Resource Pantry supports WCU students facing homelessness and financial hardships by providing food, toiletries, school supplies, and winter/professional apparel to meet basic needs required to thrive.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with structuring and creating a pantry on WCU’s campus
Identifying grant opportunities
Assisting with developing policies and procedures for the overall operation of the food pantry
Recruiting, training, and managing WCU students serving as volunteers
Leveraging other key resources to ensure the sustainability
Developing educational and marketing materials
Strengthening and establishing mutually beneficial relationships with community partners
Assisting with collecting and reporting data
2016-17 PACC* VISTA America Reads Coordinator:
America Reads is an academic enrichment program that prepares WCU students to serve at Youth Mentors in the community in order to increase youths’ exposure to the importance of education while building academic and social skills that help ensure academic achievement.
Responsibilities include:
Overseeing the daily operations of the America Reads program
Recruiting, training, and managing WCU students serving as mentors and Site Leaders
Strengthening and establishing mutually beneficial relationships with community partners
Collaborating with Financial Aid
Serving as the co-chair of the America Reads Advisory Council
Benefits:
• Annual living allowance of $12,312
• End of Service Education Award of $5,730 or Cash Stipend of $1,500 (must complete service term)
