Providence Center is a faith-based neighborhood outreach organization offering English, computer, and sewing classes for adults; an after school program, summer camp, and teen mentors program for children and youth; and spiritual support activities for women. We seek to support individuals and families in the West Kensington/Fairhill community, including immigrants, refugees, and the native born. The organization was founded, and continues to operate, in partnership with the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.
The Resource Development Coordinator will manage the implementation of Providence Center’s fundraising and volunteer recruitment strategy, including but not limited to, grant and report writing, donor cultivation and recognition, volunteer service events, and preparing content for social, print, and digital media to support the strategy. Attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with technology, and a passion for empowerment through education is critical to this position. The coordinator will report to the Executive Director.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience:
• Must have at least two years experience in grant writing and reporting, donor cultivation, public relations, fundraising, or other advancement activities.
• Demonstrated experience or familiarity with faith-based learning environments, as a volunteer or staff member.
• Progressive responsibility in supervising staff or volunteers.
Knowledge:
• Working knowledge of the concepts of nonprofit management, including how to communicate the mission and vision of the organization to external audiences
• Understanding of donor/volunteer cultivation, tracking human and fiscal resources, and managing donor/volunteer relationships
• Awareness of current trends in development and fundraising, as well as marketing and public relations for faith-based non-profits.
Skills and Abilities:
• Planning/organizing – have efficient time management skills and ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing work environment.
• Quality control – to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, to ensure quality and a high standard of professionalism across written and verbal communication.
• Cultural competence and teamwork – must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
• Written communication – ability to edit work for spelling and grammatical errors, present numerical data effectively, and read/interpret written information.
• Digital communication – ability to prepare and post content to digital media (facebook, webpage, etc.)
• Oral communication – ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate group presentation skills.
• Software competency – Strong computer skills, including extensive knowledge of internet research and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
• Adaptability and flexibility– adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to handle change, delays or unexpected events.
