Research Assistant and Technical Specialist, Community College of Philadelphia

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The Research Assistant and Technical Specialist coordinates with the Executive Director, TAACCCT to define, collect, extract, compile, analyze and report data sets and reporting requirements as defined by the Department of Labor pursuant to the TAACCCT grant.  This individual will also be responsible to plan and assess reporting effectiveness.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS)

·         Coordinate with the 14 area Pennsylvania community college TAACCCT grant cohort to collect data as defined by the Department of Labor under the grant.

·         Facilitate the development of datasets for research projects for internal and external use, and to meet Department of Labor requirements pursuant to the TAACCCT grant.

·         Design queries for data analysis and respond to ad-hoc requests for reports related to the TAACCCT grant.

·         Assist with the development, maintenance and analysis of performance indicators and other relevant outcomes and reports pursuant to the requirements of the TAACCCT grant.

·         Using appropriate reporting and analytical tools, develop and implement strategies to import and complete accurate information from each grant site into an integrated database.

·    Develop and deliver timely reports which meet all reporting requirements of the Department of Labor.

·         Present statistical findings in clear, concise, and understandable formats.

·         Recommend procedures to ensure the accuracy of information collected at each grant location.

·         Assist grant staff at all locations with training in the usage of selected software packages and information access techniques needed to meet the reporting requirements of the grant.

·         Deliver quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional helpful and courteous manner.

·         Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, business, psychology, or other social science with a background in statistics and two (2) years of related experience.  Master’s degree with a

·         concentration in quantitative methods preferred. Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, SPSS or SAS, and visual presentation of data required.

·         Experience utilizing an enterprise-wide information and reporting system required; Banner and BRIO reporting preferred; working knowledge of SQL preferred.

·         Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, analytic, and quantitative abilities required.

·         Excellent planning, attention to detail and organizational skills required.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

·         Ability to perform multiple tasks with changing priorities required.

·         Ability to work both independently and collaboratively required.

·         Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.
