The Research Analyst provides support for data and analytic projects in Research Policy & Innovation and as support to flexible teams across the organization. This team-based position builds databases from government and program sources, creates ad hoc reports, provides analyses of data and data inputs to answer performance questions and completes reporting requirements. The position is also responsible for data visualization and reporting in meetings.
In this position you will be responsible for the following duties:
Capture secondary data from multiple sources and convert it to data base standards. Capture primary data through web-based surveys and phone-based interviews with protocols. Analyze data for integrity from multiple software platforms. Respond to questions using data analysis and detailing the limitations of the information. Build and maintain databases as required. Produce information products that are visually appealing under the supervision of senior staff members. Analyze data using EXCEL, ACCESS and SPSS. Use a variety of software to display data for information consumers. Help write, edit and format reports. Build rapport and reputation for quality and timely responses within Research Policy & Innovation and outside the Business Unit. Learn new software and data systems to support projects.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Science or Business Administration or other related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis using diverse datasets.
Or, any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Human Resources Department
- Knowledge of SPSS or similar statistical software
- Ability to negotiate websites and capture data in different formats.
- Strong business acumen and integrity when handling confidential and sensitive data
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, EXCEL, ACCESS and Power Point.
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to explain technical issues to lay audience
- Ability to effectively relate to people of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, government agencies, public officials, and all levels of management and staff
