Remake Learning Days: “Simply STEM!” Virtual PD Workshop – May 8
Posted by Philadelphia Education Fund on April 25, 2023
Remake Learning Days is an innovative learning festival for families and youth! Taking root in regions across the world, thousands of hands-on and engaging events are designed for learners of all ages at libraries, schools, tech centers, museums, play spaces, community centers, and more. This year’s Southeastern Pennsylvania festival is from May 4 –23, 2023.
Nancy Peter, the Director of PEF’s McKinney Center for STEM Education, will present “Simply STEM!” on Monday, May 8, from 4-5:30 PM. In this virtual workshop, educators will explore a collection of simple, low-tech, low-cost, engaging, and easy-to-implement STEM activities. Specific topics and activities will include natural science 20 questions, animal classification, a values clarification exercise, and small-group machine pantomimes.
This workshop will also provide context including regional and national STEM trends, priorities, standards, and outcomes. Why is STEM education now so critically important? What are some statewide and national priorities? Which STEM standards should we be aware of and aligned with? And how are we measuring our positive impact on programs, educators, and students?
- This workshop is open to all educators!
