Regional Manager, Petey Greene Program NJ
Posted by Petey Greene Program on July 12, 2022
ABOUT US
The Petey Greene Program supports the academic goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs, while educating volunteers on the injustice manifest in our carceral system.
We envision a world in which all incarcerated people have access to high-quality academic programs and we strive to inspire our alumni – both students and tutors – to become advocates, and to take on leadership roles that reimagine the criminal legal system.
We operate the largest multi-state tutoring program, placing 1,000 volunteers annually to tutor 2,500 currently and formerly incarcerated people in seven states. PGP is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, but the majority of our 21 employees work remotely in their respective regions.

THE ROLE
The Regional Manager will be responsible for leading the New Jersey region and ensuring the provision of high-quality tutoring services for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students in New Jersey. This includes managing several programmatic and university partnerships as well as supervising a team currently made up of one Division Manager and 1-2 part-time Volunteer Engagement Coordinators. The position reports to a member of the PGP national team.
In the programmatic and supervisory aspects of the role, the Regional Manager will lead the NJ team in collaborating and coordinating with multiple types of partners, including higher education programs, reentry providers, and prisons and jails. The Regional Manager will support the NJ staff in determining the tutoring needs of program partners and participating students, developing semester program plans and collaboration agreements, and ensuring tutors and students are matched appropriately. The position is also tasked with monitoring the quality and evaluation of the tutoring services provided, and supporting NJ staff in troubleshooting issues of attendance, engagement, or academic progress in collaboration with program partners, PGP staff, tutors, or students.
In collaboration with national staff, the Regional Manager will also be responsible for leading the development of new and fully-funded programming in the NJ region. This will involve cultivating relationships with potential partners and funders, pursuing fee-for-service contracts, pushing for the collection of academic data, and developing programming to create a continuum of educational support for system-impacted learners in New Jersey, both during and after their incarceration.
Preferred candidates will reside in New Jersey. Candidates residing outside of New Jersey may be considered, but must be able to easily travel to meetings in New Jersey on a regular basis (weekly or biweekly).
The position allows for flexibility to regularly work from home, a co-working space, and/or PGP’s headquarters in Princeton, NJ.
