POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Red Cross Club Facilitator

The American Red Cross-Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, offers the Red Cross Clubs (RCC), an after-school program, where high schools students develop knowledge and skills in life-saving trainings and serve their communities. The RCC model involves a core group of students in each high school, who, under direction of Red Cross staff and Teacher Sponsors, receive training in HIV prevention education, Disaster Preparedness, First Aid/CPR/AED, leadership styles and techniques, and International Humanitarian Law. These students then are encouraged and guided in developing and sharing what they have learned with peers and the overall community through school-wide presentations, including ?Red Cross Days?, service projects, and other events during the school year and in the summer. The Red Cross Club Facilitator leads the after-school program in at least four of the 18 Philadelphia high schools. In addition to planning and attending club meetings, the Facilitator assists in curriculum development, performs program administration tasks, and helps coordinate other events related to youth. This position works closely with fellow Facilitators and other Community Education Department staff.

Bachelor?s degree from four-year college or university. Two+ years related experience, preferably including work with urban youth, public schools, and youth development or community service. A current and valid driver?s license, criminal, and child abuse clearances are required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with high school-aged youth in both small and large group settings. Ability to work well with students, teachers, and school administration. Excellent organizational skills. Experience managing a classroom environment and adapting or developing lesson plans.
