Job Summary:
Recovery embraces all aspects of life, including housing, employment, education, mental health and health care treatment and services, complementary and naturalistic services, addiction treatment, spirituality, creativity, social networks, community participation and family support as determined by the person. The Recovery Coach provides flexible, community and family based services that are designed to promote the stability, recovery, and community integration of individuals who have severe mental illness and substance abuse problems living in Delaware County. The Recovery Coach will work with the participant to identify needs and goals in addition to working with the participant to foster recovery from mental illness and substance abuse problems.

Primary Responsibilities:
The recovery coach will accomplish this by coordinating services, benefits, housing, training and activities designed to foster recovery, achieve stable housing and increase self-sufficiency. The recovery coach will provide all service and support in a manner consistent with the fundamental recovery principles. The recovery coach assists each participant in developing an individualized self-directed support plan based on their unique strengths and resiliencies among other factors. The recovery coach will work with his/her team to create a monthly schedule of peer-directed activities, groups and trainings (e.g. WRAP trainings, health screens etc.) for the participants. The recovery coach is responsible for updating relevant databases and maintaining participant files in accordance with relevant regulations in a time efficient manner. The recovery coach joins other program staff on street outreach by van and on foot in Upper Darby and surrounding Delco communities. The recovery coaches will seek new ways to engage and provide service and support away from our office and on a mobile basis. The recovery coach will be an active participant on at least one county-wide Homeless Services Coalition committee and will perform other duties as required. Must be able to create, read and send e-mail through Microsoft Outlook, create word documents in Microsoft Word, use Microsoft Outlook calendar and work within an Internet/intranet environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university and one to two years experience in human services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Certified peer specialist preferred. The ability to maintain standards of participant confidentiality in all written and verbal communication is required. Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Windows and Office application is required. The ability to communicate clearly in writing and in conversation is required. The recovery coach must also have good listening skills and the ability to synthesize information from written and oral reports. Must possess personal attributes and work competencies suited to working in a team environment and providing services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record is required. This job requires some light lifting and the ability to climb steps and move about a building and grounds. The ability to travel around the community walking, driving and using public transportation is also required.
