SIX PRIORITY RECOMMENDATIONS
Opportunity Youth United has developed a platform for change, called Recommendations to Increase Opportunity and Decrease Poverty in America. This platform puts equal emphasis on investing in pathways out of poverty for young adults like ourselves seeking another chance, and on changing the conditions of poverty in our nation’s communities.
We offer practical yet transformative improvements to federal and state policy that will improve the systems that shape our lives and communities—ranging from family supports, early childhood, education, juvenile and criminal justice and foster care systems to national service, mentoring and job training. Working with national experts and policymakers, we have identified near- and longer-term priorities to increase opportunity and decrease poverty in America.
Our six near-term priorities to create pathways out of poverty for at least one million young people each year who are eager to seize opportunity.
