Real Food Field Organizer Fellowship

Posted by on March 12, 2012

The Get Real! Campaign is fueled entirely by student activists and young food justice organizers.  And we want you to join the team:

If you are a college senior or recent grad with a fire for organizing and social change:  Apply now for our 2012-2013 Field Organizer Fellowship.

Through the fellowship program you will sharpen your leadership skills, lead region-wide field organizing projects and work with an incredible team of young food justice changemakers.  The 14-month program features a participatory-action curriculum designed to provide hands-on learning experiences, foster community and explore critical food systems issue.

Fellows gain real work experience, new professional/movement networks and a toolbox of non-profit, food justice and grassroots organizing skills.  At the same time, Fellows support important student-led efforts to shift millions of university dollars away from industrial agriculture and toward a just, sustainable food system.

Here’s what one current fellow has to say:

The Real Food Challenge is an incredibly dedicated, nurturing, and inspirational group of people, and I’ve learned so much in my time as an RFO.  This work is really important and challenging, and I would highly recommend it for an aspiring organizer who wants to sink their teeth into a strategic, relationship-based, national campaign for food justice.
– Jon Berger, Mid-Atlantic Field Organizer, Class of 2012

This summer and fall you can also intern with the Real Food Challenge.  Our 3-month internships are available in a variety of fields, including: Communications and Media; Real Food Calculator Research, and Curriculum Development.  Check out our website for more details.
