In 2014, school districts, parents, and advocacy groups came together to file a lawsuit to argue that Pennsylvania’s process for funding schools, relying heavily on local taxes, is tantamount to discrimination. In a landmark decision, a judge ruled in February 2023 that the school funding system is unconstitutional.
