Reaching the Dream: College Access for the Next Generation of Leaders
I am writing to let you know about some exciting programming we are providing at Girard College for the Martin Luther King Day of Service on Monday, January 20th.
As part of the signature service events at Girard College, Philadelphia Futures will be offering four workshops for high school students and their parents:
· Planning for Success: 9th & 10th Grade Students
· Parenting Strategies for College Success: 9th & 10th Grade Parents
· Preparing for College Admission: 11th Grade Students & Parents
· Paying for College: 12th Grade Students & Parents
This is a wonderful way for students and parents to gain critical college readiness information – and connect with other college-going peers. Participants will also attend the moving opening and closing programs for the Day of Service – it looks to be an outstanding program. Lunch and MLK Day t-shirts will also be provided.
Would you please pass the word to students, parents, and any other key educational stakeholders in your network? Participation in these workshops is free of charge, but advanced registration is required. Families may register at http://mlkdaycollegeworkshops.eventbrite.com.
