Clint Smith traveled to nine locations from Monticello in Virginia to the Whitney Plantation in Louisiana to examine how slavery is remembered. In the new book, “How The Word is Passed,” Smith writes about his visits to those places, “those telling the truth, those running from it, and those doing something in between – in order to understand this reckoning.”
On Thursday, July 8 at 1:30pm ET, the best-selling author joins opinions columnist Michele Norris to share what he has learned.
