CONCILIO ANNOUNCES 2004 PUERTO RICAN FESTIVAL POSTER CONTEST
Contact: Jose Rivera, 215-627-3100
The Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations of Philadelphia, Inc. (Concilio) and the Puerto Rican Festival Poster Contest Committee are requesting submissions for the 2004 Puerto Rican Festival Poster.
The Festival Poster serves to help communicate the Festival Theme’s message through a visual representation of the Theme. This year’s Theme, “Latino Unity: Pride in Our Diversity and Common Heritage,” highlights the gifts of a mutual language, shared traditions, collective origins, and common history bequeathed to all Latinos. Artwork will be judged on esthetics and its effectiveness in conveying the message of promoting awareness and understanding of regional – cultural, political, and social – distinctions.
Artists producing the top three poster entries will be awarded prizes during the invitation-only Professional Reception in September, and the winning entry will also be used as the cover for the 2004 Puerto Rican Festival Yearbook, distributed during the Annual Banquet and Dance Gala.
Amateur artists of Latino heritage, 14 years and older, are eligible to participate in the Poster contest. Paintings and drawings must depict the people, places, sights or experiences of the Latino community, based on the context of the theme. For more information please contact Jose Rivera, Deputy Director of Concilio, at 215-627-3100.
The deadline for poster entry submission is Friday, June 11, 2004. Contact Concilio for a submission form.
