Puentes team
We are excited to announce that we are accepting volunteers for the Puentes Hacia el Futuro, Puentes de Salud’s education and wellness programs, for Spring Semester 2014.
The mission of Puentes de Salud is to improve the health and wellness of the Latino community in South Philly by providing healthcare as well as addressing the social factors that influence long-term health outcomes, such as education, literacy, and socioeconomic status. The Puentes Hacia el Futuro program is one of the Puentes social services that addresses these fundamental issues by providing tutoring and literacy support, as well as art, culture, and health education for a group of 60 children three days per week.
Puentes de Salud, our parent organization, has partnered with Philadelphia’s Mexican immigrant community over the past seven years to provide low cost, culturally and linguistically accessible, sustainable health care. We recognize that education and health needs are connected and strive to provide an interdisciplinary approach to improving community wellness.
