Position Title: Public Programs Intern

Position Description: The Public Programs Intern will work under the Public Programs Department of Asian Arts Initiative. S/he will assist with day-to-day responsibilities related to our Social Practice Lab neighborhood-focused artist residency and help coordinate a range of activities and artist projects that are part of our Pearl Street Project, including our annual Block Party. Please read about and familiarize yourself with our Social Practice Lab and Pearl Street Project prior to applying.

Responsibilities and projects will pertain to: Community Outreach, Writing, Administrative Tasks & Data Entry, Program Planning, Event Planning, Event Management, Research, and more.

Schedule Requirements: This is a part-time, unpaid position, beginning as early as September 2015 and running through December 2015 at the earliest. Estimated average weekly hours: 8 to 10 hours per week, with additional hours on occasional weekends and evenings, including the week(s) leading up to our annual Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, October 10.

Qualifications: • Experience and familiarity with Chinatown North/Callowhill neighborhood is strongly preferred • Familiarity with contemporary art and/or a background in art history is preferred • Must be dependable, responsible, resourceful and organized • Able to think independently and creatively • Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team • Must possess strong writing skills
