In September 2010, ACF, in partnership with West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution, Philadelphia University and many others, launched a unique collaboration, the Park West Green Trails Initiative, to create a comprehensive transportation, recreation, park and open space plan that better connects target neighborhoods to Fairmount and Cobbs Creek Parks. The initiative will also promote the growth of green collar jobs and green businesses for area residents.

Guided by a diverse and engaged Study Committee comprised of volunteer leaders from community organizations, business associations, environmental groups, city/state agencies, and elected office we worked to produce a plan that promotes economic, social, and environmental growth in several West Philadelphia neighborhoods.  The Park West Green Trails Master Plan vision includes

New street trees, community gardens, and planted alleyways
Bike lanes, bus shelters, and street lights to promote transit safety
