Position Title: Public Engagement Coordinator
Grade: E 1
Salary Range: $30,769 — $40,000 — $49,231
Reports to: Amy Anderson, Public Engagement Manager
Department: Community Impact
Position Summary: This position plays a lead role in implementing United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania?s (UWSEPA) volunteer mobilization activities in support of the Community Impact Plan, working with the corporate and non-profit sectors, as well as other communities, to assure engagement of volunteers.
The Public Engagement Unit at UWSEPA is charged with raising public awareness about United Way?s Community Impact Plan by mobilizing volunteers to meet community needs. The staff team is composed of individuals with a strong sense of mission who are self directed.
Job Responsibilities:
? Position UWSEPA as a prominent volunteer mobilization force in the Delaware Valley. Represent UWSEPA at local and regional coalitions including Points of Light, Regional Volunteer Centers.
? Develop and maintain a working relationship with a large number of corporate audiences, community organizations, schools, faith-based groups, and local governments to effectively match the general public with episodic and/or intensive volunteer opportunities in support of the Community Impact Plan.
? Assist in the implementation of a public relations campaign to promote public engagement and volunteerism as part of the Community Impact Plan. Identify and engage prospective audiences for outreach.
? Develop and implement volunteer mobilization projects. Examples: Day of Caring, Martin Luther King Day of Service, and www.Volunteerway.org. Implementation requires coordination with internal departmental groups as well as external recruitment and presentation of volunteers and organizations to host volunteers. Specific examples of the work include:
? Oversee volunteer/project site matching process, monitor customer service, and follow-up.
? Improve and enhance projects: research and develop appropriate project development kits, project registration forms, promotional materials, web-based delivery channels.
? Implement customer service evaluations and incorporate learning into final report.
? Prepare specialized volunteer recruitment materials, and disseminate these materials effectively. Example: Community Impact brochures, posters, etc.
? Other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
? Undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, communications, social work or related field.
? At least one year of demonstrated volunteer management experience (knowledge of volunteer models: club-style, episodic, ongoing).
? Demonstrated capacity for creative planning and implementation.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation and persuasive skills.
? Access database experience.
? Time management and organizational skills.
? Experience managing/delegating to staff (vistas).
? Ability and willingness for local travel.
