The Volunteer Coordinator at Dress for Success Philadelphia holds a key position created to recruit and identify new volunteers, manage and support existing volunteers, and design and implement strategies for sustaining our community engagement program.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities at Dress for Success Philadelphia.
Evaluate all aspects of the volunteer program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate.
Respond to daily volunteer inquiries via phone and email to ensure successful placements for individuals and groups as well as facilitate weekly orientations for new volunteers.
Maintain all communication and database entries for volunteers, from initial inquiries and application through service recognition as well as hours logged, work performed and training completed.
Identify community outreach opportunities such as corporate volunteer options and opportunities, events, fairs, festivals, local markets and organizations and attend for the purpose of actively recruiting volunteers, promoting organizational awareness, increasing donations, increasing adoptions and development opportunities.
Facilitate the weekly distribution of relevant information for volunteer email blasts;
Maintain and place volunteer opportunities on appropriate volunteer job sites.
Acting as the initial point of contact for potential new DfS Philadelphia individual and corporate volunteers and scheduling appointments.
Conduct interviews and introductory tours of DfS Philadelphia
Following recruitment, refer new volunteers to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain the volunteer roster and email lists, and send out regular volunteer notices as directed.
Develop and assist with volunteer appreciation events throughout the year.
Ensure volunteer hours are recorded.
Direct involvement in fund-raising and friend-raising events.

Provide direction with the ability to prioritize and plan ahead
Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) skillfully and effectively with a culturally diverse staff, volunteers and community in a professional, pleasant, respectful, courteous and tactful manner at all times
Proficient in computer applications, such as software, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage as well as knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs that involve a cadre of volunteers
Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment and community engagement practices
Comfortable working with social media outlets
Experience working with non-profit professionals and in corporate settings
