Job Description
Part-time Assistant to President and Grantwriter (will train)
The Better Living Center is dedicated to helping residents of Chester gain access to resources and information so that they can do for themselves. The Better Living Center offers:
Emergency Food
An Information Center
Referrals to Community Resources
Free Computer Access – Access to the World-Wide Web
After School Tutoring
Information on Healthy Eating and Healthy Living
The Better Living Center is seeking a Part-Time Assistant to the President/Director.
Duties include:
o Conduct on-line and Foundation Center research to identify corporate, foundation and individual donors
o Develop funders lists, manage list and monitor deadlines for proposals
o Develop written materials on various BLC programs with benefits statement
o Write and submit proposals on an on-going basis.
o Write grant reports at termination of each grant
o Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
o Prefer College Senior, Graduate Student or recent College Graduate
o Should have transportation or be able to commute between Chester and Center City Philadelphia
o Available to work between 3pm and 8pm
o Must have excellent writing and research skills
o Excellent Computer Skills including MicroSoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint
o Good Communication Skills and Excellent Social Media Skills
o Prefer someone who is flexible and in-transition
o Must have demonstrated empathy for challenged populations and the poor
o Able to work independently
o Able to develop and manage mailing lists and data-base.
