PSLA/NFCS Service-Learning Coordinator

PHENND, the PA Service-Learning Alliance, and New Foundations Charter School seeks a VISTA for a late November start date.

Position Title: PSLA/NFCS Service-Learning Coordinator

The VISTA should have strong skills and experience with/in the following areas:

  • Written and verbal communication
  • Project planning
  • Event coordination
  • Social media

The Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance advocates for expanded service-learning opportunities for students in Pennsylvania. PSLA provides professional development for teachers, disseminates information about best practices, and works with schools, districts, and the PA Department of Education to infuse service-learning into the curriculum. The PSLA Coordinator will handle all day-to-day aspects of the PSLA – distributing a weekly newsletter, outreach to schools and teachers, handling logistics for service-learning training, and seeking grant funding to expand the work. Additionally, this Coordinator will be based at New Foundations Charter School, to help support the service-learning program at NFCS. This half of the position will include program coordination, directly supporting students and teachers, and grant writing.
The PSLA/NFCS Service-Learning Coordinator will:
– compile the weekly PSLA newsletter
– maintain the PSLA website
– organize quarterly PSLA board meetings; take and distribute notes
– seek out districts and schools to participate in SL trainings
– organize SL trainings
– compile SL resources for teachers across PA and at NFCS
– upload PSLA documents to PDE curriculum website
– seek out grant funding for PSLA and NFCS
– assist teachers and students at NFCS with service-learning activities

This position will be based at New Foundations Charter School, 8001 Torresdale Avenue, Philadelphia.
