THE ENTERPRISE CENTER’S PROJECT GREAT POTENTIAL
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM PREPARES YOUNG MEN FOR THE GREEN ECONOMY ON THE PATH TOWARD OWNING ENTERPRISES AND CREATING WEALTH
The Enterprise Center’s Project Great Potential (PGP) program has had a lasting impact on young adult males in Greater Philadelphia since August 2006. To date, the PGP program has produced 208 graduates over 7 eight-week program cycles and 3 spring social entrepreneurship workshop forums.
Initially supported with an earmark grant through the U.S. Department of Labor and Senator Arlen Specter’s Office, and currently sponsored by Citizens Bank Foundation, PGP is an intensive social entrepreneurship program specifically for males ages 18-25 from under-resourced communities. PGP equips participants with the skills necessary succeed in the business world and the journey of life.
“We at The Enterprise Center believe that these young men can succeed in the journey of life and can become the future business leaders of Philadelphia, the region and eventually the world,” said Russell Hicks, PGP Program Manager. “Social entrepreneurship and economic development are means to self-sufficiency and generational wealth, and we are committed to helping young men in Greater Philadelphia identify their professional passions and create wealth for themselves, their families, and the communities in which they live.”
Project Great Potential (PGP)’s social entrepreneurship workshops are for young men, between the ages of 18-25, in regards to entrepreneurship, career development, and community leadership. These workshop forums will be hosted at The Enterprise Center in our Business Event Center on Saturdays, October 17th, November 14th, and December 12th from 10am-5pm.
Project Great Potential has strategic partnerships with educational institutions, employment agencies, and mentoring agencies. Strategic partners provide access to education, internships and other professional resources to PGP alumni to help keep the young men on the road to success and to bring their career plans to fruition. Referrals to partnering programs and additional training also ensure that PGP alumni will continue to receive the necessary support.
