POSITION Available: PennCORD Project Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Project director, PennCORD/vice-president of interpretation, National Constitution Center
BACKGROUND:
PennCORD, the Pennsylvania Coalition for Representative Democracy, represents a unique union of educational, advocacy, and governmental organizations committed to improving civic education for students in grades K-12. The Coalition, whose lead partners are the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Office of the Governor, and the National Constitution Center, has received a two-year grant from the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools. With this grant, the Coalition will assess the state of civic education in the commonwealth, produce media advocacy materials and gather and disseminate teacher resources. The grant allows for the hiring of a part-time (about 18 hour per week) project coordinator for
the grant’s duration October 25, 2004-September 30, 2006). The project coordinator will have an office in the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Provide office support for the Coalition
– Facilitate communication among members, including arranging meetings
– Coordinate with the press arms of the members for communication beyond the Coalition
– Coordinate events among members, such as press conferences, visits to schools, etc.
– Coordinate statewide surveys for Coalition
– Coordinate publication of materials for the Coalition
– Oversee maintenance and updating of Coalition web site, including coordination among member web sites
– Daily oversight of grant budget
– Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
– A B.A. or B.S., degree or coursework in education or communication a plus
– Work experience in an office and/or direct public contact job
– Must be well-organized and flexible.
– Have good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
– Must have mastery of MS Office products, prefer experience with Publisher and Raiser’s Edge as well
– Attention to detail while performing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
– Must be able to work individually and as a member of a team
