Coded by Kids is seeking applications from qualified 18-24 year olds for Program Support Coordinators to facilitate project-based technology education programs in Philadelphia rec centers for students ages 5-18. The Program Support Coordinator positions are part-time (20-30 hours/week), with flexible hours and are perfect for current college students and recent graduates with an interest in computer science, web development, and/or education.

Our programs are designed to help our students achieve success by providing them with a combination of real world tech skills and access to a support system of mentors with experience in the tech industry.

** Coded by Kids Program Support Coordinators **
Coded by Kids Program Support Coordinators are employees of the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Parks and Recreation. They are responsible for facilitating weekly classes at our recreation center classes, by managing the volunteers, students, and community partners that participate in those classes. When not coordinating classes Program Support Coordinators have the opportunity to learn web development and software engineering. As they progress in their learning, they will be able to gain both teaching experience in weekly classes as well as project experience within the Coded by Kids dev shop.
Program Support Coordinator’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
– Volunteer Coordination – interview, select, and manage all volunteers for assigned rec center(s). This includes coordinating class visits, volunteer orientation, background checks/clearances, and ensuring that enough volunteers can attend each class to maintain proper instructor/student ratios
– Student Coordination – respond to parent/partner inquiries about programs at site, register and onboard new students, conduct digital literacy assessments, discuss project ideas with new students, and notify CbK management when classes have reached capacity
– Classroom Management – respond to student, parent, and volunteer questions that occur in class, address behavioral issues within the classroom, maintain a safe and engaging learning environment for every student
– Administrative Tasks – take attendance for students and volunteers for every class, keep up-to-date records in the CbK learning management system, respond to requests for information from CbK management
Program Support Coordinators will be expected to coordinate 2-4 classes each week. Classes will generally be 1-2 hours long and Coordinators will be expected to arrive at least a half hour before class starts and stay until the last child has been picked up by a parent or guardian.
** Requirements **
– Between 18-24 years old
– Ability to commit to 9-12 months of working with the Coded by Kids management team to provide high quality tech education in Philadelphia rec centers
– Flexible schedule to work up to 30hrs/week
– An interest in software engineering, web development, UI/UX design, and/or education
– Ability to obtain state and federal criminal and child abuse clearances
– Ability to pass the City of Philadelphia’s new hire physical, drug screening and criminal background screening
– Ability to attend regular professional development sessions throughout the course of employment

** Compensation **
$11.00/hour.
