POSITION DESCRIPTION
Program Manager
The Institute for Global Education and Service Learning seeks a Program Manager for its Learn and Serve America-Homeland Security program. The LSA program – Youth Organized for Disaster Action (YODA) will be implemented in schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Program Manager will provide leadership and direction in developing and implementing the YODA program?s vision and strategy while ensuring compliance with federal grant regulations. The position requires a strong commitment to the role of youth as agents of positive change in their communities. Other qualifications include:
. Understanding of Service-Learning – Experience in education or National Service desired.
. Organizational Ability – Can manage people and resources to get projects completed; strong ability to multi-task and keep order.
. Interpersonal Confidence – Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization; creates and builds positive and productive relationships.
. Strong verbal/written communication and public speaking skills.
. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: MS Word, Excel, and Access.
. BA and 3+ years experience.
The Institute for Global Education and Service Learning is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping educators enhance student academic experience and performance through service learning. The IGESL creates service-learning programs in collaboration with schools and organizations across the country. The Institute strives to design and implement programs that infuse service-learning methodology and brain-based learning theory into schools and communities to promote education reform; construct and lead interactive trainings for youth and adults that target community needs through service learning; and advance service-learning methodology through research, partnership, and publication of educational materials specific to literacy, citizenship, environment, human need, and homeland security.
