Concerned Black Men National (CBM), a national youth social services organization is seeking a qualified professional to manage the Organization’s mentoring project based in Philadelphia, PA. The selected candidate will have the responsibility of managing site based operations of school based mentoring projects in the School District of Philadelphia. This is a full time position with a generous health benefits package.
Job responsibilities will include the following:
1. Provide supervision of school based mentoring project which will include monthly field trips and cultural enrichment activities; 2. Supervise Administrative Assistant; 3. Recruit mentors. 4. Recruit mentees from assigned schools for participation in mentor program. 5. Coordinate and facilitate weekly group sessions involving mentees. 6. Coordinate and facilitate mentor/mentee matches. 7. Provide regular consultation to support and strengthen all mentor-mentee matches through frequent telephone, electronic, and in-person communication; 8. Maintain weekly contact with project participants to assure services are accessed, needs are addressed and to develop an alternative intervention plan if any barriers exist; 9. Ensure that any issues, problems, or barriers to success are identified, addressed, and promptly reported to the Program Director; 10. Coordinate referral of mentees to other community agencies assuring all mentee needs are addressed; 11. Maintain accurate records and complete necessary reports as required by the program contracts and the Program Director; 12. Keep Program Director informed of mentee case issues, especially those that require immediate resolution; 13. Represent the organization at applicable meetings associated with assigned projects and other meetings as assigned by the Program Director; 14. Work with the Program Director to prepare and submit project reports in a timely manner; 15. Any other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree in social work or human services related fields preferred; 2. Experience working with youth within both school and community settings. 3. Experience with or knowledge of school-based, one-to-one mentoring programs. 4. Strong community outreach skills; 5. Knowledge of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and other public assistance programs; 6. Strong oral and written communication skills; 7. Strong interpersonal skills; 8. Ability to use good problem solving techniques; 9. Attention to detail; good record keeping skills; 10. Strong teamwork skills.
