Program Manager, SAADA

The South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA) uses the power of stories to create belonging for 5.4+ million South Asian Americans. Our archive, storytelling projects, artistic partnerships, walking tours, lesson plans, films, and books help ensure that South Asian Americans are recognized as an essential part of the American story. The future we are building together is one where each of us feels our value, our worth, and knows that we belong.

The Program Manager will support the planning and execution of SAADA’s wide-reaching national programs and events. In this role, you will:

Manage programs and ensure their success by (60%):

  • Overseeing timelines, budgets, deliverables, and milestones for a number of simultaneous projects, in a diverse range of fields, so that elements of each project are on track in order to fulfill their goals.
  • Communicating proactively with collaborators to assure their respective contributions to a project meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Generating and implementing creative ideas to scale SAADA’s programs and maximize organizational impact.
  • Example of a program: Measuring Impact of Archives on BIPOC Arts Organizations
    • Communicating with research partners through email and Zoom.
    • Co-designing a selection process for fellows to document arts organizations.
    • Providing ongoing guidance to arts organization fellows.
    • Ensuring that project deliverables meet expectations and are completed on time.
    • Tracking project expenses and regularly keeping all stakeholders aware of new developments.

Lead event planning and execution by (20%):

  • Coordinating operations and logistics for workshops, conferences, and events, both in-person and virtually.
  • Planning event agendas and activities that provide compelling opportunities to showcase SAADA’s work and create a welcoming environment for attendees.
  • Organizing group travel plans and coordinating with local vendors such as venues, hotels, transportation, and caterers.
  • Capturing and managing follow-through from meetings and events by preparing agendas, taking notes, creating tasks, and following up on next steps to generate forward momentum.

Contribute to SAADA’s operations and sustainability by (20%):

  • Supporting organizational growth through other projects assigned by SAADA’s Executive Director, including supervision of staff.
  • Participating in conversations with community members, donors, contributors, and others invested in SAADA’s work.
  • Pursuing professional development and other learning opportunities.
