Program Manager, Ethical Global Learning

Haverford College seeks to hire a full-time, exempt, fully benefits eligible Program Manager for Ethical Global Learning to support faculty and student activities that extend Haverford College’s identity as an institution engaged in fundamental issues of inequality and social justice, locally, nationally, and internationally.

Considering such a commitment through the lens of cultivating ethically-grounded global leaders (inclusive of local and domestic engagement), the individual will add coordinating and implementation capacity to faculty and student learning communities and work closely with other Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC) staff members to align numerous existing efforts in a manner that makes the College’s core commitments increasingly clear. The individual in the position will support faculty activities, research, and special programs relating to engaged, ethical global learning such that a common website and shared narrative is accessible to and understood by others interested in ethical global learning. All of these activities will enhance student opportunities for engaged, ethical learning experiences and further advance Haverford’s established commitments to learning for higher ethical purposes.

Majority Primary Function:

  • Work with the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship Executive Director (ED) to support and align ongoing and emerging faculty efforts advancing ethical global learning at home and abroad
  • Gather formal and informal reports and requests for course development, community partnership initiatives, funding opportunities and communications. Organize, and share reports with the Executive Director
  • Act as liaison with guest speakers, artists, performers, advocates/activists, and other college visitors whose focus is on ethical leadership, ethical global engagement, and engaged learning, and support logistics and other requirements for the visits
  • Coordinate budget(s) for programming initiatives
  • Regularly update online collections of information and events relating to ethical leadership opportunities, engaged learning, and social justice
  • Cooperate with administrative staff and other college stakeholders to support Ethical Leadership Summer Institute
  • Partner with Institutional Advancement in preparation of annual stewardship report and stewardship activities associated with the donors supporting the Ethical Leadership Initiative
  • Facilitate greater communication and resource-sharing for global learning and peace, and social justice initiatives between the Tri-College consortial campuses (Haverford, Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges)
  • Support grant writing
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, & Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree required, post-baccalaureate degree preferred
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit organizations
  • Knowledge of higher education, community-engaged learning, intercultural learning, ethics, and nonprofit organizational settings; community organizing and/or significant volunteer experience;
  • Experience working with a wide range of individuals, and an astute understanding of how to create effective partnerships that draw upon the experiences and knowledge of diverse communities, domestically and internationally;
  • Experience in collaborating with faculty and undergraduate students to build community relations;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; well-developed organizational abilities;
  • Proven project management experience at all levels (initiation through implementation, budgeting and assessment), including events planning and oversight.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects;
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with oversight of budgets;
  • Experience working with social media, online academic resources, website development, and knowledge mobilization broadly understood;
  • Evidence of collaboration and initiative in work settings; strong interpersonal skills.
