Program Intern (Unpaid, For-credit Welcome)
Join Mighty Writers’ team as a Program Intern. Program Interns work directly with the Program Director to facilitate writing workshops and our 2011-12 afterschool program, as well as support our SAT program. Fall interns are asked to complete 15-20 hours per week for at least 12 weeks. Flexible hours are available and school term opening hours are Su 2-6pm, M-Th 10am-8pm. This summer also saw the opening of Mighty Writers’ second location, MIGHTYVISION, an illustration studio and comic arts gallery on South Street. Responsibilities:
Support to the Program Director with administrative tasks, learning new computer applications as necessary
Work with youth aged 7 to 18 individually and in small groups
Write compelling and dynamic copy for a nonprofit organization
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, volunteers and colleagues verbally and in writing
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Two or more years experience working with children aged 5-18
Outgoing personality
Excellent attention to detail
Genuine interest in creative educational programs
