The Youth Health Empowerment Project (Y-HEP) Program Director of Y-HEP Job Description
Reports To: Philadelphia FIGHT’s Director of Education
Hours Weekly: 40. This is an exempt position.
Philadelphia FIGHT is a comprehensive AIDS service organization providing state of the art, culturally competent, HIV primary care, and opportunities for clinical research, social services, consumer education, and outreach to people living with HIV and those at high risk. Our goal is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of people living with HIV now. The Youth Health Empowerment Project (Y-HEP) is one of Philadelphia FIGHT’s Education Programs. Y-HEP works to engage and empower high risk and vulnerable youth ages 13-24 to make healthy choices about their lives through a comprehensive range of services. The Y-HEP Program Director is onsite director of all of Y-HEP and is responsible for ongoing planning and implementation of the department structure, accountability, and financial stability. This person is responsible for the development and management of a budget funded primarily by local and federal government grants and several other grants funded by private sources. The Program Director represents Philadelphia FIGHT both on site and in the community, in a courteous, efficient manner that reflects the high level of integrity and customer service mandated by Philadelphia FIGHT.
Job Requirements
Education: This position requires a master’s level professional with a minimum of five to seven years of supervisory experience.
Experience: This position requires three to five years providing sexual health programming to at-risk youth populations.
Skills: Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, research and time management skills. Demonstrated experience working with high risk populations. Excellent reading and deductive reasoning skills; excellent communications, interpersonal skills and collaborative skills; flexible, self-motivated, organized, able to work well under pressure. Knowledge of Spanish is preferred but not required.
Miscellaneous: Must be able to get to work on a daily basis and on time. Must be able to work cohesively with others and must be able to take feedback and constructive criticisms. Must be willing and able to agree to employment terms
Supervises: The Program Director indirectly supervises all Y-HEP Staff and directly supervises program managers, supervisors, therapist and nurse practitioner.
Specialized Responsibilities
Oversees Y-HEP Programming
Works with the Director of Education to plan and implement Y-HEP’s core programs and services.
Works with the Financial Director on all fiscal matters related to Y-HEP budgets.
Works with Director of Development to seek out and write grants for funding of Y-HEP programs.
Identifies financial and in-kind resources for the agency.
Maintains quality assurance in conjunction with managers and supervisors.
Evaluates Y-HEP’s programs and services.
