Job Description
The Program Coordinator I for Education Outreach reports to the Office of Civic Engagement’s Director of Public School Partnerships. The program coordinator serves as the program director for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. This entails administration of the Rutgers after-school program at three North Camden public schools during the school year and on the Camden campus during the summer; the program serves students in grades 4-8, their families, and other adults connected with the schools. The program coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student workers and other program staff and volunteers. The program coordinator serves as a liaison between groups on campus, including faculty and students, and public school staff members to develop programs that support school-time learning and foster positive working relationships. The program coordinator also provides staff support to the Community Advisory Board for the Rutgers North Camden Schools Partnership. The Program Coordinator also supports other collaborations between Rutgers-Camden and K-12 education.
Job Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus a minimum of two years of relevant experience in coordination or administration is required; a master’s degree in a related field with experience in community education is preferred. Effective written and verbal communication is required; the ability to speak and write in Spanish is preferred. Also preferred is a strong leadership background in planning and implementing educational programming, including supervisory experience; excellent organizational and project management skills; experience in K-12 education; and, knowledge of Camden.
