Program Coordinator, OST Programs
Posted by North10 Philadelphia on October 8, 2019
NORTH 10 PHILADELPHIA (NORTH 10) is committed to improving the overall quality of life in the Hunting Park – East Tioga communities of North Philadelphia. Founded in 2007 as the Lenfest Center, the organization started by providing safe, structured, and free programming to develop the academic, social, and emotional skills of neighborhood K-12 children and youth. The 52,000-square-foot building has presented students and the community with unique opportunities to experience learning in a number of diverse settings – on the basketball court, in the computer lab, and in classrooms. In order to achieve our mission, North10 focuses on community-building, resource development, and community-informed strategic planning in the areas of education, housing, economic development, and community wellness. North10 has positioned itself as a “Community Quarterback” to improve the quality of life for residents of Hunting Park and East Tioga. We acknowledge that there are stakeholders who have been working towards a goal of neighborhood revitalization for some time and we hope that our work supports theirs.
Starting in the Fall of 2017, after a self-evaluation and a community-informed strategic planning initiative, North10 reimagined the role of the Lenfest Center as a direct service provider to the community. At the core of our work is a commitment to build a diverse cohort of programs that provide year-round learning experiences for youth, their families and community residents.
Our K-12 Out of School Time program allows participants to build confidence through academic and enrichment programming, in addition to a robust set of athletics offerings. Finally, with the addition of Adult Programs, the Center will now more effectively function as a vibrant, community hub that facilitates neighborhood engagement, advocacy, culturally relevant education, and improved community health outcomes.
