AGENCY OVERVIEW

MENTOR Independence Region (MIR), a department of Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence, shares the mission to ignite the power and promise of youth and close the mentoring gap, by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships and strengthening the quality of the mentoring field. MIR engages in a body of work separate from but related to Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs. MIR seeks to strengthen relationship-based support for all youth through formal and informal strategies. MIR provides services to organizations such as mentoring programs, nonprofits, educational institutions and corporations in service of increasing the quality and quantity of supportive relationships to young people across Eastern Pennsylvania.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Director of MIR, the Coordinator conducts outreach to organizations and people, provides support and coordination for key events and processes that lead to efficient delivery of high-quality services and satisfied clients. The Coordinator is responsible for outreach to mentoring programs, administering several key database systems, and providing operational and logistical support for events and client services. The Program Coordinator will plan and execute digital and interpersonal outreach to area mentoring programs and other youth-serving organizations to learn from them and engage them in MENTOR IR’s network, services, and events. Candidates with a strong connection to the community that MIR and BBBSI serves and the Southeastern Pennsylvania/Southern New Jersey area are given preferential consideration. Occasional travel to events is required, as is some nights and weekend work.
