Job Title: Program Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director

Job Description:
Ceiba is a coalition of Latino non-profit organizations. Its mission is to promote the economic development and financial inclusion of the Latino community through collaborations and advocacy aimed at ensuring their access to fair housing. The Program Coordinator will help run Ceiba’s programs that promotes the financial development of the Latino community through a holistic approach to asset building that involves financial literacy education, free tax preparation, access to affordable housing, matched savings programs, and access to the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). Program Coordinators also apply what they learn through the delivery of services to the community to help Ceiba forge and execute the coalition’s advocacy efforts around equitable community development.

Responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

  • Working with the Executive Director to ensure the efficient running of Ceiba’s Programs and activities
  • Ensuring Ceiba’s compliance with contracts, commitments, grant goals, and service to the community.
  • Writing narrative reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Helping to manage, recruit, and retain staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinating structured savings program for immigrants
  • Providing some direct services and running educational activities for clients in both individual and in group workshop settings.
  • Keeping up to date on public policy matters relating to Financial Literacy, Asset Building, Community Development, Affordable Housing, Coalition Building, Latino Affairs, Civil Rights, Immigration, the Rights of the Limited English Proficient, and other issues relevant to the work of Ceiba.
  • Coordinating staff and volunteers.
  • Representing Ceiba at meetings, conferences, presentations, and other activities.
  • Working a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong writing, public speaking and organizing skills.
  • The ability to recruit, motivate, and retain staff and volunteers.
  • The ability to build relationships with community people, staff of community-based organizations, business and corporate leaders and officials at the federal, state, and local level.
  • Good negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Latino culture.
  • Commitment to the Latino community and knowledge of the dynamics of the City of Philadelphia.
  • The ability to work on a number of simultaneous projects and to meet their deadlines.
  • An understanding or willingness to learn about Financial Literacy, Asset Building, Community Development, Affordable Housing, Coalition Building, Latino Affairs, Civil Rights, Immigration, Real Estate, Home Purchases, Mortgages, Home Equity Loans, Housing Counseling and other matters relevant to the work of Ceiba.
  • The ability to work with members of the non-profit and legal community of the City.
  • Experience with advocacy and community organizing efforts.
  • A college degree preferred but not required.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
