Program Associate
Description of the trust: The Charles Ellis Trust mission is to help girls from single parent families who are Philadelphia residents graduate from high school. Students in diocesan and independent schools are granted tuition support; public school girls are supported in summer and after school programs, extra-curricular activities, school-based expenses, etc. The Trust supports over 2000 students per year.
Responsibilities:
The Program Associate assists in processing student applications for funding through the Charles E. Ellis Trust. The position exists to ensure that Trust monies are used to further the educational goals of high school girls in Philadelphia. This is a part-time position (three days, or twenty-four hours per week). Responsibilities include:
 Conducting on site trainings with high school staff and community-based organizations (requires some travel)
 Fielding questions and status requests from counselors, social workers, young people, and families via phone, mail and email
 Reviewing and approving applications in a timely manner
 Communicating with families and counselors regarding incomplete applications
 Composing and editing a variety of professional documents
 Maintaining and preparing documents for payment by Program Director
 Keeping organized paper and database files (Access) on each student
Qualifications:
The Program Associate position requires:
 An enthusiasm for helping high school students succeed
 A friendly, professional manner
 Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and professions
 Strong presentation skills
 Excellent writing skills
 Strong computer skills ? applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly with Access, Outlook, and Word
 An ability to handle multiple and varied tasks
 An eye for the future ? we are seeking applicants who can build on existing systems to further the goals of the trust
 At least two years of work experience with high school age students preferably in a community or school environment
 Knowledge of the School District of Philadelphia a plus
Compensation: hourly/approximately 20-24 hours per week preferably during school hours. Must be able to pass criminal and child abuse checks.
