PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SERVICE:
WALKING IN THE WAY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING

Martin Luther King Jr. lived a life of dignity in service. The Jewish Community High School of Gratz College (JCHS) will honor his legacy through learning about the civil rights movement and hearing true stories about members of the Jewish community who have fought for justice and civil rights. The goal of our 7 programs during the month of January is to inspire the search for justice in today? s Jewish youth and Jewish educators. The programs are designed to help them to understand that service is a way of life, and not only a day. Each student and teacher will be asked to make a commitment to walk in the way of Dr. King, as well as thousands of Jewish social activists, through committing to service on or around the MLK Day of Service.

January 4: Professional development In-Service from 12:45pm-2:45pm for secondary school teachers to understand Service Learning pedagogy, Jewish tradition and history about social justice, and service learning program enhancement and development.
Teachers can receive Act 48 credits.
