Problem-based Service Learning Institute

New York Campus Compact is sponsoring 3 faculty institutes in May and June. Discounted registration to all Campus Compact members.
May 18 – 19: Problem-based Service Learning Institute. Dr. Rick Gordon, author of the Problem Based Service Learning fieldguide, and Dr. Mathew Johnson of Siena College will co-facilitate this institute. Located on beautiful shoreline of Lake Ontario on SUNY Oswego’s campus, faculty will learn the principles of problem-based service-learning and leave with a solid outline of a PBSL course design.
June 9 – 10: 4th Annual Global Service Learning Institute. Co-sponsored by Cornell University, New York Campus Compact, and Pace University, this institute is designed to advance our understanding and practice of service-learning that focuses on global issues, both domestically and internationally. Dr. Niklaus Steiner, Director of the Center for Global Initiatives at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, will keynote the Institute. (Registration open soon!)
June 27 – 28: Service-Learning and Your Institutional Mission. Service-learning courses support every institution’s mission and strategic plan. Dr. Edward Zlotkowski, Professor of English at Bentley University and academic service-learning pioneer, will facilitate a 1 ½ day institute for faculty who want to explore and/or deepen their understanding and practice of academic service-learning pedagogy. This institute is co-sponsored by New York Campus Compact and St. John’s University, Queens, NY.
