AIDS Education Month (AEM) is a series of FREE events in Philadelphia throughout the month of June. The goal of AEM is to increase awareness of AIDS and to bring people together to find strategies to combat the virus. Our goal is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of those currently living with HIV. Over 10,000 individuals are directly reached by AEM annually.
We would like to invite you to the 12th Annual Beyond the Walls: Prison Health Care & Reentry Summit on Tuesday, June 10th and to the 15th Annual Prevention & Outreach Summit on Wednesday, June 18th. Beyond the Walls: Prison Health Care & Reentry Summit
Tuesday, June 10th
8:30 AM – 5 PM
PA Convention Center, 12th & Arch Streets, Philadelphia
Through panels and workshops, we explore health and re-entry challenges facing persons who are incarcerated and persons re-entering our communities, including HIV, mental health issues, substance use, housing, employment, advocacy, mentorship and educational programs. With a focus on community led responses to the crisis in the criminal justice system, workshops reflect the needs of prisoners and former prisoners and will highlight the work being done to improve conditions inside the prison walls and in the communities to which prisoners are returning. With over 36 workshops and over 1,000 in attendance, this summit promises to offer something for everyone.
