Prevention Specialist, Jewish Family & Children’s Service

As part of our Education & Outreach Services, the Prevention Specialist utilizes research and evidence-based prevention curricula to facilitate groups with children, adolescents, school personnel, parents and other professionals in school and community settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fulfill required number of monthly direct service hours per Education and Outreach Servcies policies
- Provide up to 5 groups daily in assigned elementary, middle, and/or high school settings
- Provide program orientation to students, school staff and parents
- Prepare lessons utilizing EOS approved research and evidence-based curriculum
- Be available during report card conference days and back to school events to provide programmatic information and resources to families
- Provide ongoing consultation for school personnel regarding the progress of services provided
- Consult with individual students to assess need for further intervention
- Complete and submit student referral form to school counselor or other appropriate school personnel as warranted
- Display sound professional judgment in relationships with students, school personnel, parents, EOS staff and other professionals
- Contribute to the development and implementation of special projects
- May be required to facilitate workshops with school personnel, parents and other professionals
- Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and supervisory sessions
- Enter data and submit all required paperwork within the time frame specified in EOS policies and procedures
- Display initiative in program development and motivation for advancing skills through participation in training workshops
- Maintain daily communication by checking e-mail and phone messages at least once per day
- Adhere to EOS procedure for recording daily attendance
- Assist in the development and facilitation of the EOS strategic plan
- Maintain awareness of JFCS vision, mission and program components
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as requested
- Adhere to OAS training requirements
