About YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School:
YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School strives to provide out-of-school youth in Philadelphia with the broadest range of tools, supports and opportunities available to become self-sufficient, responsible and productive citizens in their community. Our unique, one-year program provides a second chance for young people to earn their high school diplomas and learn vital job skills through rigorous academics, vocational training and community service. We are located at 1231 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122.

About the Transformation Interviews: The Transformation Interview is YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School’s capstone project. In the interview students are asked to reflect on their time at YouthBuild, discuss their transformation as a student and young adult, and demonstrate readiness to go on to post-secondary education or careers.

Your Role: Over the course of each session, a volunteer will sit on several panels comprised of teachers, other YouthBuild staff and other volunteers. During each panel, volunteers will ask probing questions that will encourage students to reflect on their experiences and clearly articulate their ideas, as well as prepare them for job and college interviews. Volunteers play a crucial role every year in providing student’s with feedback from outside our YouthBuild world and helping our students explain YB and their transformation to a variety of people. Each interview is about 30-40 minutes in length.

Desired Qualifications:
Volunteers must:

§ Be 18 years of age
§ Have interview/presentation experience in academic or professional setting
§ Be able to commit to a either a morning (8:30 to 11:30AM) and/or afternoon (12:30 to 3:30PM) session on June 8th, 9th, and/or 10th.

Training Provided: There will be an orientation at the beginning of every session.
