Position Announcement: Director of Advancement
Princeton Project 55 (PP55) is seeking a dynamic individual to manage development and communications for the organization. This position is ideal for someone interested in contributing their skills, expertise, and ideas to a vibrant organization poised for significant growth. About Princeton Project 55
Princeton Project 55?s mission is to inspire and build civic leadership among alumni and students by engaging them in significant activities that influence and improve our society. Founded in 1989, PP55 is an independent 501(c)(3) based in Princeton, New Jersey and run by a dedicated and active board of twenty-four, a staff of five, and nearly 200 volunteers. Position Overview and Responsibilities
The director of advancement will plan, oversee, and implement all fundraising efforts for the organization to raise approximately $400,000 annually. He or she will also oversee organization-wide publicity, marketing, and outreach activities and implement those that support resource development. Reporting directly to the executive director, he or she will be responsible for working with the board and staff to meet the fundraising goals as determined by the executive director and board of directors.
Development Planning, Implementation, and Stewardship
* Create and implement a multi-year strategic fundraising plan for Princeton Project 55 with the goal of diversifying funding sources, increasing planned giving, and growing PP55?s endowment
* Meet or exceed annual revenue projections via cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in coordination with the executive director, PP55?s development steering group, board, and other volunteers
* Evaluate results of fundraising efforts, adjust strategies, and report fundraising progress regularly
* Work in partnership with the executive director, board of directors, and other volunteers to identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and other current and potential funders
* Identify, develop, and plan fundraising and outreach events as appropriate
* Develop and implement strategy for increasing support from foundations and corporations
* Record and process all incoming donations and acknowledgements
* Maintain current, and design new, methods of recognizing donors
Communications and Marketing
* With the executive director and communications committees, develop a comprehensive communications plan that will support resource development and further PP55?s mission
* Manage the creation of branded fundraising collateral pieces, including, but not limited to, appeals and supporting materials, annual report, newsletters, website, and other pieces as developed
* Coordinate with program staff to ensure consistency of messaging in fundraising and program communications
* Be a positive representative of Princeton Project 55 in the community and help create institutional visibility
Qualifications
* Strong commitment to Princeton Project 55?s mission
* At least 2-3+ years fundraising experience, specifically in securing institutional and individual gifts
* Experience in developing communications and marketing materials
* Desire to seek and accept varied responsibilities, purposeful high energy, and the capacity to self-start and take initiative
* Excellent oral, listening, and written communication skills
* Exceptional skills in working with and motivating volunteers of all ages and interests ? both in person and at a distance
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility, creativity, and openness to new ideas and feedback
* Proven experience multitasking with attention to details
* Commitment to excellence and professionalism
* Proven success at problem solving/trouble shooting
* Steadiness under pressure
* Interested in working in a highly motivated and collaborative environment
* PC computer skills, notably Microsoft Office, Raiser?s Edge, and, ideally, NetCommunity
* B.A./B.S.
Salary
Salary will range from $40-50,000 depending on previous experience. Compensation includes medical and dental insurance, retirement benefits, and a generous vacation policy (two weeks vacation, eight personal days, and holidays). The director of advancement will have a large private office and on-site parking.
Location
The position is located in the PP55 offices at 12 Stockton Street in Princeton, NJ.
