Points of Light National Volunteer Strategy Roundtable: Service Program Leaders at Academic Institutions – Feb 3 or 5

Posted by Points of Light on January 13, 2026

Volunteering creates enormous impact in communities, strengthening social connection and building trust. Yet participation has stagnated, even as these connections and trust become increasingly fragile and communities face growing needs. Strengthening the infrastructure that supports volunteering is essential for volunteers to meet these challenges effectively and sustainably. To address this, Points of Light and partners across sectors (including Youth Service America (YSA) and our New Era of Youth Service in America national strategy planning) are leading Reimagining Service 2035 — a bold national effort to double the number of Americans who volunteer by 2035 and design a National Volunteer Strategy that makes volunteering central to how our nation thrives.

It’s about far more than the numbers. This National Volunteer Strategy will serve as a shared playbook for expanding volunteer participation, strengthening nonprofit capacity, and building sustainable systems that make volunteering easier, more inclusive, and more meaningful for everyone.

Join one of our upcoming Virtual Roundtables

We’re inviting you to participate in an Academic Institutions Virtual Roundtable. Your insights will directly inform the recommendations of the National Volunteer Strategy Advisory Council charged with collecting feedback and designing the Strategy.

Points of Light will host roundtables on two different dates – we invite you to RSVP for the one that works best for you:

Option 1: February 3, 2026 – 1:00 PM EST

Option 2: February 5, 2026 – 2:30 PM EST

During this roundtable, you’ll be asked to weigh in on the challenges and opportunities you see as a sector leader for bolstering volunteer participation and capacity nation-wide.

Space is limited to allow for meaningful conversation. If sessions reach capacity, we’ll add you to our waitlist and reach out if additional space opens.

We truly believe that this is a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, and that if we come together, we can make service a defining part of American life again.
