Picasso Project Internship, PCCY

Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) is one of the region’s leading children’s advocacy organization, working to improve the lives and life chances of children in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Picasso Project (http://www.pccy.org/picassoproject) brings the arts to Philadelphia Public Schools through a mini-grants program, funding visual and performing arts and multimedia explorations. In 2015 the Picasso Project has awarded $70,000 in grants to 15 Philadelphia public schools so that teachers can team up with professional artists to combine creative experiences with core subjects.
PCCY seeks highly organized, dedicated and motivated summer interns to work on arts education research, program evaluation and advocacy. Interns must be enrolled as full time undergraduate or graduate students for the upcoming 2015 Fall semester.
Qualifications include:
o Excellent critical thinking skills
o Detail oriented with very strong organizational skills
o Ability to work independently and with others
o Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
o Knowledge of multimedia, web and graphic design skills a plus
o Familiarity with Philadelphia geography, schools & arts organizations
Interns will focus on:
Advocacy
o Organize arts-focused Action Days at City Hall to raise support for arts funding
o Support PCCY advocacy on school funding issues
o Create content for web-based outreach, the Picasso Blog, and any digital and print marketing/publicity materials
Research & Evaluation
o Conduct the 2015 survey-based evaluation of Picasso schools
o Identify other methods to evaluate the impact of the Picasso Project on students and school climate
o Conduct research to build an evidence-based case for the impact of arts education on students and schools
COMPENSATION: stipend
SCHEDULE: 10 weeks, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm
TERM: Internship is available starting May 25th, 2015
