Picasso Project Director, Public Citizens for Children and Youth

Position Summary: The Picasso Project Director will lead and manage a innovative grant making program that expands hands-on arts instruction and mobilizes arts education advocacy in and for Philadelphia public schools.

Key Duties:

  • Manage and nurture the volunteers who serve the project as grant reviewers, school liaisons and general program supporters and/or Picasso Committee members
  • Support PCCY fundraising efforts by working closely with the Development staff including writing portions of grant applications, providing program data and preparing for individual donor or foundation meetings
  • Organize and manage the Picasso grant application process and ensure grantees fulfill their grant expectations
  • Serve as a liaison to the School District focused on removing school or district-related obstacles for Picasso grantees
  • In Picasso schools, train school leaders in advocacy, developing age-appropriate advocacy tools for grantees, teachers, and teaching artists

Position Description:
Grants Program Coordination

  • Organize grant application process
  • Refine Picasso application and guidelines as necessary
  • Arrange outreach plan to publicize RFP
  • Arrange and lead outreach workshops for potential applicants
  • Recruit and train review committee for grant applicants
  • Manage grant review and ensure completion and determination of awards by the deadline
  • Provide feedback to grantees when requested and when possible
  • Work with PCCY staff to organize awards ceremony for grantees
  • Support Grantee project implementation, including
  • Organize awards ceremony for grantees
  • Solicit photo releases and necessary insurance and clearance paperwork from grantees and their artists
  • Recruit and train volunteer liaisons for grantee schools; hold regular sessions to keep tabs on projects
  • Trouble shoot obstacles at schools
  • Organize evaluation process of grantee

Leadership:

  • Supervise interns
  • Work together with PCCY K-12 staff to create and integrate education advocacy strategy
  • Regularly review the project and generate proposals for improvement

Fundraising:

  • Work with the PCCY development staff to initiate and build relationships with Picasso donors
  • To the extent possible help Picasso grantees connect to other fundraising opportunities

Advocacy:

  • Solicit and periodically organize public events/actions involving Picasso schools in support of arts education and K-12 education
  • Publicly represent PCCY as voice for arts education in schools

Communications:

  • Keep the web content related to Picasso up to date
  • Tweet on assigned Arts Education Day
  • Arrange and organize photo and video documentation of school events, where possible
  • Prepare content for development and public relations publications published by PCCY
